About Barton Family Funeral

Barton Family Funeral Service is founded on the belief that there is a better way to deal with death than the expensive offerings of the corporate funeral industry. We urge a return to traditional values, beliefs, and cultural practices that are often compromised when traditional funerals cost too much. The growing trend toward personalized last rites is really just a return to the ways our ancestors faced the reality of death.

Steven Barton is a 1992 graduate of the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science.  Before moving to Seattle in 1997, he worked as a licensed embalmer and funeral director at family owned funeral homes in Pocatello, Idaho and St. George, Utah. Coming from a background where the local funeral directors knew the families they served, Steven was accustomed to a high standard of care where the needs of the families came first.

After seven years at large corporate funeral providers in the Seattle area, he could no longer tolerate the relentless quest for profits that govern the corporate world. In 2004, he founded Barton Family Funeral Service to provide the kind of personal service that families deserve.

Pat Barton (Steve's mother) is a graduate of Woodbury University in accounting.  She and her husband, Craig, moved to the King county area in 2004 to help us. Previously, Pat worked as as a consultant helping doctors set up and staff their offices. She also established and ran several small business including a wholesale distribution company.  In addition to managing the business operations along with Molly Ramage, Pat is a funeral director intern and enjoys meeting with families.

S. Craig Barton, DDS (Steve's Father) received his Doctorate from the University of Southern California.  In 1997, he left dentistry to join BBN Global Consulting, an International business consulting firm  with offices in São Paulo, Brazil and Houston, Texas.  When Steven decided  to found Barton Family Funeral Service, he and Pat joined Steven in Seattle to found the firm and nurse it during its infancy.

Molly Ramage is a graduate of Eastern Washington University. She has worked in the medical field over 25 years before joining Barton Family Funeral Service in 2006.

Having been a client when her mother passed away, she was struck by the compassion and professionalism of Barton Family Funeral Service.  Molly joined us in early 2006 as one of our Funeral Directors.

Mike Blair attended Idaho State University majoring in psychology. Prior to joining us, Mike owned and operated a maintenance company serving the medical community in Pocatello, Idaho.  He joined us shortly after our founding because his range of interests and skills prepared him to help us when everyone had to be good at a lot of different jobs.

Benjamin Pike attended Wenatchee Valley Community College prior to entering the U.S. Navy where he received training as a medic. Ben has been involved in the funeral industry since high school helping out at the local funeral home in Wenatchee. Later he interned with funeral homes in Dallas, Texas and Prescott, Arizona where he received training in funeral directing and embalming.
